Premarital Agreements

David enjoys acting as a mediator for clients who would like help negotiating and signing a premarital agreement that feels reasonable to each party. While traditionally each client is directly represented by an attorney who negotiates on his or her behalf, David works as a neutral third party to help clients efficiently and amicably shape an agreement that meets their needs. This process has several advantages: (a) clients typically feel that the process of mediating a premarital agreement feels more collaborative, (b) the direct communication between clients that occurs during mediation often helps build a foundation for healthy and transparent communication during marriage, and (c) in many cases, mediation is more efficient and therefore less expensive than having two attorneys engage in direct negotiation over the terms of a premarital agreement.

It is important to note that in order to comply with California law, clients who work with a mediator to create a premarital agreement will need to retain separate attorneys to review the agreement, carefully explain the terms to the agreement, and sign the document alongside them.
